Elegance Abounds at the 2007 Princeton Fall Antiques and Fine Arts Show
On the weekend of September 28-30, dozens of exhibitors gathered under the tent at the Princeton Airport with a magnificent array of treasures to sell. They were the heart of the Princeton Fall Antiques and Fine Arts Show, held to benefit the Historical Society of Princeton’s educational programs, exhibitions, and collections care. More than 1,500 of people visited the show in support of HSP’s mission. As Show Committee co-chair Keating Johnson exclaimed, “Working on the Antiques and Fine Arts Show has been such a pleasure. All things were bigger and better this time around. We have heard rave reviews from exhibitors and attendees alike.”  Keating, along with fellow co-chairs Kary Clancy and Lauren Fasolo, planned and delivered a wonderful weekend.

The weekend began with an opening night preview gala, where guests mingled in an elegant environment and enjoyed dinner and dancing to the Jack Goodman Trio. As attendee Jerry Reilly summed it up, “It was superb—a lovely evening. It was one of the nicest events you could ever attend!”

On Saturday the 29th, the show, brilliantly managed by Frank Gaglio of Barn Star Productions, began in earnest. Throughout the weekend, visitors not only browsed and bought but were treated to a broad variety of engaging events. Christian Jussel, renowned antiques dealer, TV show host and auctioneer, shared his experiences with PBS’s popular Antiques Roadshow. The “Young Collectors’ Evening” on Saturday was fun, festive, and a great opportunity for attendees to learn about the world of antiques and HSP programs. And on Sunday, John Nye of Dawson and Nye Auctioneers and Appraisers conducted an appraisal clinic. Dozens of people took advantage of this fabulous opportunity to learn more about their most prized possessions.

The show festivities concluded in town in mid-October with a wonderful night of shopping and hors d’oeuvres at J. McLaughlin to benefit HSP. The dates for the 2008 show are September 26, 27 and 28. See you then!
