OUT OF TOWN TOUR: GLORY AND NEWS IN WASHINGTON, D.C. SATURDAY, MARCH 20, 2010 Join us on a trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the gloriously restored U.S. Treasury building, the Newseum, and other museums of your choice on the National Mall. The U.S. Treasury, built in 1869, recently finished a ten year $247 million restoration that brought back the glory of its gilded interior décor and period furnishings. We will have a guided tour that was arranged by U.S. Representative Rush Holt. We will visit the recently opened Newseum, “the world’s most interactive museum, where five centuries of news history are on exhibit.” The museum is in a stunning modern glass and steel building on Pennsylvania Ave. It has 14 galleries, 15 theaters, a splendid view of the Capitol and the National Mall. Later, you will have about three hours to visit your special museums of choice on the Mall. Lunch will be on your own. We will serve refreshments on the way to D.C. and dinner on the bus in the evening. Our tour at the Treasury is at 10:30am resulting in an early morning departure. The trip is limited to 40 people. Your tour coordinators are Eva Schwab and Serena Weisberg. The cost of the trip includes transportation, tours, and a $10 non-refundable contribution to HSP. For reservations please call 609.921.6748 ext. 100. The bus will leave Princeton at 6:30am and return at 8:00pm. The cost is $95 for members of HSP and $95 for non-members.
