HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALBERT!: It’s time for HSP’s annual bash celebrating the life of Princeton’s favorite former resident, Albert Einstein! Children ages 6 and older are invited to learn about Einstein’s many contributions to the world—his scientific discoveries as well as his tireless efforts to fight racism and foster world peace. We’ll also listen to his favorite music, examine his treasured possessions, and eat cake! Please choose one of two sessions: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 1:00-2:00 p.m. Registration is recommended as space is limited. Please 609-921-6748, x100 or email Jeanette@princetonhistory.org.

OUT-OF-TOWN TOUR: GLORY AND NEWS IN WASHINGTON, D.C. Join us on a trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the gloriously restored U.S. Treasury building, the Newseum, and other museums of your choice on the National Mall. We will have a guided tour The U.S. Treasury, built in 1869, recently finished a ten year $247 million restoration. We will visit the recently opened Newseum, “the world’s most interactive museum, where five centuries of news history are on exhibit.” Lunch will be on your own. We will serve refreshments on the way to D.C. and dinner on the bus in the evening. For reservations please call 609.921.6748 ext. 100. The cost is $95 for members of HSP and $105 for non-members.

WALKING TOUR: Enjoy a 1.9 mile, two-hour walk around downtown Princeton and the University campus as you learn about historic sites in the area, including Bainbridge House, Nassau Hall, the University Chapel and Palmer Square. The early history of Princeton, the founding of the University, the American Revolution: these are just some of the stories from Princeton’s history that you will hear on your tour. Meet and purchase tickets at Bainbridge House, 158 Nassau Street. The cost is $7 per adult; $4 children ages 6 to 12; children age 5 and under are free. No reservations required

JERSEY GIRLS: Snow is melting, crocuses are popping up—it’s time for spring vacation! When the kids get tired of puddle-splashing and/or the Wii, bring them to HSP for our drop-in craft days. In observation of Women’s History Month we’ll make necklaces celebrating the achievements of some of New Jersey’s most talented girls and women! This program is free!

STROLLER STRIDES IS BACK: If you've heard the buzz about this popular program, here's your chance to take our first stroller tour of 2010! Moms, dads, caregivers, and grandparents are invited to join us as we visit local landmarks, architectural gems, and hidden historical sites in Princeton. The tour lasts approximately one hour. Routes and stops vary monthly. Please meet in front of Bainbridge House. $7 per adult, $5 for members of HSP. Children are free. ANNUAL DRUMTHWACKET LECTURE: HSP and the Drumthwacket Foundation are delighted to present their fourth annual co-sponsored lecture. This year’s speaker will be Ulysses Grant Dietz, Senior Curator of Decorative Arts at the Newark Museum. The great-great grandson of President Ulysses Grant, Dr. Dietz will discuss his new book Dream House: The White House as an American Home (co-authored by Sam Watters), which examines changing White House styles from the 1800's through the Kennedy years. The event, which will be at Drumthwacket, begins with a light reception at 2:00 p.m., followed by the lecture at 2:30. Dr. Dietz will sign books at the conclusion of his talk. Seating is limited to 130. Registration is required; please RSVP by calling 609.683.0057, x4.
