HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PRINCETON
2007 HISTORIC HOUSE TOUR

On November 3, 2007, the Historical Society of Princeton’s 6th Annual House Tour opened five outstanding houses to the public. Over 700 house and garden lovers and supporters came out for this extraordinary event.

House Tour Committee chair Anne Witt notes, “The Tour was an unprecedented success. We appreciate the homeowners’ willingness to open their houses and share their personal collections with the public in support of the Historical Society of Princeton.”

The house at 117 Library Place, has been called home by such eminent owners as the Attorney General of the United States under President Lyndon Johnson and the U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand. The 19th-century house at 14 Alexander Street was once sublet by famed poet, dramatist, and literary critic T. S. Eliot.

Other houses included 162 Mercer Street, one of the oldest homes in Mercer Hill Historic District; the residence built by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson at 82 Library Place; the impressive and deceptively spacious house at 6 Chestnut Street; and Morven—the one-time New Jersey governor’s mansion, now a museum and garden.

Thank you to Baxter Construction, N.T.Callaway Real Estate, LLC and Hamilton Building Supply for their generous support, and the 120 volunteers who make this event possible!
