The Historical Society of Princeton was pleased to announce a new exhibition, Landscapes by Brett Weaver.  The exhibition ran for three weeks from July 31 to August 19, on the first floor of Bainbridge House at 158 Nassau Street, Princeton.   A reception in honor of the artist was held the evening of Friday, August 3 from 5 to 7pm.

A nationally recognized artist with paintings in the collection of the Tennessee State Museum, Brett focuses on preserving impressions of a rapidly diminishing landscape.  Inspired by locations all around the country, Brett’s paintings have a timeless quality.  His most recent landscapes have included the Updike Farmstead at 354 Quaker Road.  The Historical Society of Princeton acquired the Updike Farmstead in 2004 to preserve and rehabilitate the farm buildings and land for future public use.  In addition to the Updike Farmstead and its surrounding fields, visitors to the exhibition will recognize scenes from Princeton’s countryside, including Lake Carnegie and the D&R Canal.  According to curator Eileen Morales, “As the Historical Society of Princeton begins rehabilitation of the Updike Farmstead, this exhibition presents an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the numerous opportunities for programming at the site, including as a place to inspire the artistic community."
