20. Barclay's Ice, Coal and Wood Plant

Where this parking lot is today was once a small park owned by a colored man named Addison Gordon. In the 1930s to 50s, this was the site of an ice plant owned by George Barclay and Andrew Teague. Called Barclay’s Ice, Coal, and Wood Plant, the partners provided families with large blocks of ice for their ice boxes, and delivered loads of ice by truck for restaurants.
