31. Gale's Cleaners

Originally located here, at 114 Witherspoon Street, Gale’s was the first Black-owned dry cleaner in Princeton. The shop moved several times; the third location was where More Cafe (formerly A Place to Bead) is now, at 41 Witherspoon Street.

Fannie Reeves (now wife of former Princeton mayor Jim Floyd) was among the young people who worked in the shop. Gale was an active member of the Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church.
